It is also an inhibitor of glycerol kinase activity in vitro. 1-Thioglycerol serves as a versatile reagent employed in fluorescence, spectroscopy, and microbiology methodologies. By adjusting the concentration of 1-thioglycerol during the fabrication of CdSe/CdS core-shell ultrasmall quantum dots (CS-USQDs), it offers a precise means to regulate the shell size, where an elevated concentration corresponds to an augmented shell size.
