VEGF-C Activators

Common VEGF-C Activators include, but are not limited to Cobalt(II) chloride CAS 7646-79-9, PGE2 CAS 363-24-6, PMA CAS 16561-29-8, Retinoic Acid, all trans CAS 302-79-4 and Dexamethasone CAS 50-02-2.

VEGF-C activators constitute a class of compounds designed to augment the biological effects of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor-C (VEGF-C). This growth factor plays a pivotal role in regulating lymphangiogenesis, which is the formation and maintenance of lymphatic vessels in the body. VEGF-C primarily interacts with VEGFR-3 (VEGF receptor 3) on the surface of lymphatic endothelial cells, initiating a series of intracellular signaling events that promote the growth and proliferation of lymphatic vessels. Activators of VEGF-C amplify these signaling pathways, leading to enhanced lymphangiogenesis.

Understanding and manipulating VEGF-C activation hold significant research and implications. For example, promoting lymphangiogenesis through VEGF-C activators may be beneficial in conditions like lymphedema, characterized by the accumulation of lymphatic fluid due to impaired vessel function. Additionally, manipulating lymphatic vessel growth could impact cancer metastasis by facilitating the spread of cancer cells to lymph nodes. VEGF-C activators are instrumental in advancing our comprehension of lymphatic vessel biology, with applications in tissue repair, inflammation, and various diseases. They offer promising prospects for developing innovative interventions that modulate lymphatic vessel growth and function, benefiting individuals with lymphatic disorders and offering insights into cancer progression.
