Transcription elongation factor A protein 3 (TCEA3) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TCEA3 gene. This protein is part of the transcription elongation factor A (SII) family, which act as essential regulators of transcription elongation by RNA polymerase II, the enzyme responsible for synthesizing messenger RNA in eukaryotes.TCEA3 is involved in the regulation of transcription, a fundamental process where genetic information stored in DNA is transferred to RNA. During transcription, RNA polymerase II can pause or stall, and transcription elongation factors like TCEA3 help the enzyme to continue transcribing.
