GCS-α-1 Inhibitors

GCS-α-1 Inhibitors include a variety of compounds that can indirectly affect the activity of GUCY1A3. These inhibitors operate through different mechanisms, primarily focusing on reducing the availability or efficacy of nitric oxide, which is crucial for GUCY1A3 activation, and modulating cGMP levels, the primary product of GUCY1A3 catalysis.

Compounds such as Methemoglobin, ODQ, LY83583, NS2028, Methylene Blue, L-NAME, L-NMMA, Alloxan, Diphenyleneiodonium, C-PTIO, Carboxy-PTIO, and Sildenafil Citrate interact with different aspects of the nitric oxide-cGMP signaling pathway. Some of these inhibitors, like Methemoglobin, C-PTIO, and Carboxy-PTIO, function by directly scavenging nitric oxide, thereby reducing its availability to activate GUCY1A3.
