QUICK LINKS

Tobramycin sulphate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with bactericidal action against a number of gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting the growth of bacterial cells by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit and blocking the formation of peptide bonds. This prevents the bacteria from synthesizing proteins, which is essential for their growth and survival. In addition, Tobramycin sulphate may act to inhibit the activity of certain enzymes, such as DNA polymerase and topoisomerase. It has also been used in laboratory experiments as a reagent in biochemical and physiological studies.
