    SEE ALSO...

SPCA1/2 Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SPCA1/2 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SPCA1/2 (B-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. SPCA1, encoded by the ATP2C1 gene, plays a crucial role as a calcium and manganese transport ATPase, primarily located in the Golgi apparatus. This localization helps maintain the ionic balance within the Golgi lumen, which is essential for proper protein processing and secretion. SPCA1′s interaction with SERCA2 ensures that calcium levels are tightly regulated, which is vital for various cellular functions, including muscle contraction and neurotransmitter release. Mutations in the ATP2C1 gene can lead to Hailey-Hailey disease, an autosomal dominant condition characterized by skin blistering and acantholysis, highlighting SPCA1′s importance in maintaining cellular integrity. SPCA2, encoded by the ATP2C2 gene, also resides in the Golgi apparatus and exhibits a higher enzymatic turnover rate compared to SPCA1, suggesting a specialized role in secretory cells, particularly in the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts, as well as in glands such as the prostate, thyroid, salivary, and mammary glands.
