Quin II is a fluorescent Ca2+ indicator compound. Quin II is a quinoline-based compound that is described to function as an indicator of intracellular Ca2+ concentration and to also serve as a buffer of intracellular Ca2+ levels. There is a shift in the UV spectrum upon binding calcium and fluorescence is enhanced.
