HHV-8 gp64 Antibody (11D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects HHV-8 gp64 of viral origin by immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-HHV-8 gp64 antibody (11D1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. HHV-8, also known as Kaposi′s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), is linked to several serious conditions, including multicentric Castleman′s disease and primary effusion lymphoma, which is a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that affects body cavities. HHV-8 predominantly infects individuals with compromised immune systems, such as AIDS patients, leading to the development of Kaposi′s sarcoma, a cancer that originates from lymphatic endothelium. HHV-8 gp64 is a glycoprotein located on the surface of the HHV-8 virion envelope, and this structure is crucial for viral infection of host cells. Glycosylation of HHV-8 gp64 is particularly important, as this modification influences viral stability, immune evasion, and interaction with host cell receptors, thereby facilitating effective viral entry and propagation. Understanding HHV-8 gp64′s role in these processes is essential for developing targeted therapies and vaccines against KSHV-related diseases.
