SEE ALSO...

GAP-43 Antibody (7B10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GAP-43 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GAP-43 Antibody (7B10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GAP-43, also known as growth-associated protein 43, plays a vital role in neuronal development and regeneration, being predominantly expressed in growth cones during these processes. GAP-43 presence is crucial for axonal outgrowth and synapse formation, which are essential for proper neuronal communication and repair following injury. GAP-43 localization in the axonal membrane underscores GAP-43′s importance in facilitating dynamic changes required for neuronal plasticity and regeneration. Additionally, GAP-43 interacts with specific proteins, such as the neuron-specific Elav/Hu family member HuD, which stabilizes GAP-43 mRNA, thereby enhancing protein levels during neuronal development. Notably, studies have shown that heterozygous GAP-43 knockout mice, which exhibit a 50% reduction in GAP-43 levels, demonstrate significant impairments in memory and sensory perception, highlighting GAP-43′s critical role in cognitive functions and neural signaling.

I am using GAP-43 (7B10): sc-33705 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: AbPolly
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
