SEE ALSO...

FXYD2 Antibody (ZW-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects FXYD2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-FXYD2 antibody (ZW-5) is available as the non-conjugated format. The human FXYD2 gene, located on chromosome 11q23, encodes the γ subunit of Na/K-ATPase (NKA), which plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular ion homeostasis. FXYD2 protein is essential for regulating sodium and potassium gradients across the plasma membrane, which are vital for various physiological processes, including renal sodium reabsorption, muscle contraction, and neuronal excitability. FXYD2 γ subunit enhances NKA activity by inducing ion channel activity, thereby influencing the overall function of the Na/K-ATPase complex. FXYDs are characterized as single-span membrane proteins that contain a distinctive 35 amino acid signature domain, starting with the sequence PFXYD, which includes 7 invariant and 6 conserved amino acids. Other notable members of the FXYD family include FXYD1 (phospholemman), FXYD3 (mammary tumor protein 8), FXYD4 (CHIF), and FXYD5 (RIC), each contributing to the diverse regulatory mechanisms of ion transport in mammalian cells.

Can sc-81876: FXYD2 (ZW-5) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-81876: FXYD2 (ZW-5) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
