FUCA2 Antibody (B-11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects FUCA2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FUCA2 (B-11) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. FUCA2 protein, also known as alpha-L-fucosidase 2, is a 467 amino acid secreted protein that forms a homotetramer and is specifically localized to plasma, distinguishing FUCA2 from FUCA1, which is found in tissues. As a member of the glycosyl hydrolase family, FUCA2 plays a crucial role in catalyzing the hydrolysis of alpha-L-fucosides, particularly targeting the alpha-1,6-linked fucose attached to N-acetylglucosamine residues in glycoproteins. This enzymatic activity is vital for maintaining the balance of alpha-L-fucosidase levels in plasma; any genetic defects leading to a loss of catalytic function can result in decreased enzyme levels and contribute to the development of fucosidosis, a rare autosomal recessive glycoprotein storage disorder characterized by symptoms such as organomegaly, cognitive impairment, and vascular abnormalities. Anti-FUCA2 antibody (B-11) effectively detects and quantifies FUCA2, making this antibody an essential tool for research into fucosidosis and related metabolic disorders.
