1-β-D-arabinofuranosyluracil 5′-monophosphate (Ara5p) is a purine nucleoside that naturally occurs in the fatty acid fraction of erythrocytes. It is prominently expressed in lymphoblasts and leukemia cells. This inhibition is attributed to 1-β-D-arabinofuranosyluracil 5′-monophosphate′s ability to impede the transport of purines across cell membranes, resulting in a reduction in the production of DNA and RNA. Notably, 1-β-D-arabinofuranosyluracil 5′-monophosphate exerts its inhibitory effects by suppressing deaminase activity, which consequently promotes the synthesis of amino acids known for their anti-tumor properties.
