Calponin 1 Antibody (CALP) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Calponin 1 protein in mouse, rat, and human samples by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Calponin 1 antibody (CALP) is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Calponin 1 plays a crucial role in regulating smooth muscle contraction and serves as a marker for smooth muscle cell differentiation. Calponin 1 is primarily located in smooth muscle cell cytoplasm, where Calponin 1 interacts with actin and tropomyosin to modulate the contractile apparatus. This localization allows precise regulation of muscle contraction, essential for blood vessel constriction and gastrointestinal motility. Post-translational modifications, particularly phosphorylation at Serine 175, influence Calponin 1 function by altering actin interaction and affecting smooth muscle contractility. Three distinct forms exist—Calponin 1, Calponin 2, and Calponin 3—with Calponin 2 found in cardiac muscle and Calponin 3 in the brain, highlighting their diverse roles in smooth and striated muscle function.
