QUICK LINKS

Brassinolide is a plant hormone. Specifically, it is a natural steroid containing a seven-membered B-ring lactone that promotes both cell elongation and cell devision. It is used as a plant growth regulator and for studying plant biosynthetic pathways. It works by activating plasma membrane-bound brassinosteroid insensitive 1 (Bri1), a leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase, which interacts with Bri1-associated receptor kinase 1 (BAK1) to initiate signaling.
