Sodium (4-Sulfonatobutyl)methanethiosulfonate specifically and rapidly reacts with thiols to form mixed disulfides. Sodium (4-Sulfonatobutyl)methanethiosulfonate is used to probe the structures of the ACh receptor channel, the GABAA receptor channel, and lactose permease.
