    SEE ALSO...

Rim1/2 Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Rim1 and Rim2 proteins of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rim1/2 (B-4) antibody is available in non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Rim proteins play a crucial role in synaptic transmission, particularly in regulating synaptic vesicle fusion, which is essential for neurotransmitter release. Rim1 and Rim2, produced by alternative splicing, contain distinct structural domains that facilitate interaction with Rab3, a key player in calcium-regulated exocytosis. The amino-terminal zinc-finger motif and carboxy-terminal PDZ and C2 domains of Rim proteins form a GTP-dependent complex with Rab3 at the synapse, enhancing recruitment of synaptic vesicles to the plasma membrane. This interaction controls neurotransmitter release, which underpins synaptic plasticity and communication between neurons. Rim proteins are also localized to the plasma membrane of INS-1E cells and pancreatic beta-cells, where these proteins regulate insulin secretion, highlighting their importance in both neural and endocrine signaling pathways.
