MULK Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects MULK in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MULK, also known as acylglycerol kinase (AGK), is a 422 amino acid protein localized to the mitochondrial membrane, where MULK plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism. MULK functions as a lipid kinase, phosphorylating monoacylglycerol and diacylglycerol to produce lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) and phosphatidic acid (PA). The generation of LPA is significant as LPA activates various signaling pathways, including the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathways, ultimately promoting cell proliferation. Overexpression of MULK has been linked to increased LPA production, which is implicated in the initiation and progression of prostate cancer, highlighting MULK′s potential as a therapeutic target. Additionally, MULK exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms and requires magnesium as a cofactor for enzymatic activity, further underscoring MULK′s complex regulatory mechanisms. MULK is encoded by a gene located on chromosome 7q34, making MULK a significant focus for research in cancer biology and lipid signaling. Anti-MULK antibody (C-7) provides a reliable tool for studying MULK and its role in various biological processes.
