SEE ALSO...

MTDH Antibody (2F11C3D4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the MTDH protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-MTDH antibody (2F11C3D4) is available as a non-conjugated format. MTDH, or metastasis adhesion protein, also known as astrocyte elevated gene-1 protein (AEG1) or lysine-rich CEACAM1 co-isolated protein (LYRIC), is a 582 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that plays a critical role in cancer progression. MTDH is primarily localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, but can translocate from the cytoplasm to the nucleus in response to tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα), highlighting involvement in cellular signaling pathways. MTDH interacts with various proteins, including transcription factor NFκB, which MTDH activates to promote anchorage-independent growth of immortalized astrocytes and melanocytes, essential processes in tumor development. Additionally, MTDH enhances the seeding of tumor cells to the endothelium of target organs, making MTDH a significant player in metastasis. MTDH expression is notably elevated in several cancers and is found at high levels in tissues such as the heart, skeletal muscle, tongue, and small intestine, underscoring importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
