LAMP-2 Antibody (5K54) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody raised against glycoprotein fractions purified from the BALB/c mouse embryo 3T3 cell line, with species reactivity in mouse. LAMP-2 monoclonal antibody (5K54) is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). LAMP-2, also known as CD107B, is a glycosylated type I transmembrane protein predominantly localized to the lysosomal membrane. Extensive glycosylation stabilizes LAMP-2, protects the lysosomal membrane from hydrolytic enzymes, and facilitates autophagy by mediating the fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes. LAMP-2 is synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum, undergoes glycosylation in the Golgi apparatus, and travels to lysosomes via a pathway distinct from clathrin-coated vesicles. Dysregulation of LAMP-2 expression or modifications has been implicated in lysosomal storage disorders such as Danon disease, highlighting LAMP-2′s importance in lysosomal function and cellular homeostasis. Altered LAMP-2 activity has been linked to tumor invasion and metastasis due to roles in cellular adhesion and proteolytic activity. Anti-LAMP-2 antibody (5K54) serves as an essential tool for exploring post-translational modifications and biological functions of LAMP-2 in health and disease.
