Intra-acrosomal protein Antibody (Ds-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG antibody that detects the Intra-acrosomal protein of canine origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Intra-acrosomal protein antibody (Ds-2) is available as a non-conjugated format. Intra-acrosomal protein, also referred to as acrosomal vesicle protein 1 and acrosomal protein SP-10, plays a crucial role in spermatogenesis as a testis-specific differentiation antigen that forms within the acrosomal vesicle. Intra-acrosomal protein is integral to the acrosomal membranes and matrix of mature sperm, facilitating essential processes such as sperm-zona binding and penetration, which are vital for successful fertilization. The gene encoding Intra-acrosomal protein consists of four exons, and through alternative splicing, generates 11 distinct transcripts that produce protein isoforms ranging from 81 to 265 amino acids. The longest transcript is the most prevalent, accounting for 53-72% of total Intra-acrosomal protein messages, while the second largest transcript comprises 15-32%. The remaining transcripts contribute to a smaller fraction of total message, indicating a complex regulation of expression that may involve cryptic splicing and exon skipping phenomena. Given its significant role in reproductive biology, Intra-acrosomal protein is also being explored as a potential immunogen for contraceptive vaccines in humans, highlighting its importance beyond canine biology.
