HHV-6 gp116/64/54 Antibody (6A5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects the glycoprotein gB, specifically gp116/64/54, of strains A and B of HHV-6 by immunoprecipitation (IP) and immunofluorescence (IF). HHV-6 gp116/64/54 (6A5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The glycoprotein gB plays a crucial role in the viral life cycle, as gB is essential for the fusion of the viral envelope with the host cell membrane, facilitating viral entry and subsequent infection. Understanding gB function is vital, as gB not only aids in the development of antiviral therapies but also serves as a target for vaccine development, given gB′s importance in the pathogenesis of HHV-6-related diseases. The Herpesviridae family, which includes HHV-6, is known for establishing latency and reactivation in various tissues, contributing to a range of clinical manifestations, including febrile illnesses and potential links to demyelinating diseases. HHV-6 infection is particularly notable for persisting in monocytes/macrophages, salivary glands, brain, and kidney, with HHV-6 DNA often detected in serum samples of patients with multiple sclerosis, indicating HHV-6′s potential role in disease exacerbation.
