Agente imunomodulador ativo por via oral que visa principalmente os macrófagos. Inibe a secreção de TNF-α através da interferência da via de sinalização dos receptores toll-like (TLR) 4 e TLR 2/6 dos macrófagos. Reduz a secreção de citocinas pró-inflamatórias IL1-β, IL-10 e IFN-γ. Antidiabetogénico e previne a morte das células das ilhotas pancreáticas induzida por IL-β e IFN-γ in vitro.
