EBF Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects early B cell factor (EBF) in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). EBF plays a crucial role in the maturation of B lymphocytes, acting as a transcription factor that regulates the expression of genes essential for B cell development. Specifically, EBF is involved in the early stages of B cell differentiation, where EBF targets promoter elements for B lymphoid kinase (Blk) and genes encoding components of the early stage B cell receptors (BCR). This regulation is vital for initiating immunoglobulin light chain gene recombination and Src kinase signaling, both of which are necessary for proper B cell function and immune response. Structurally, EBF is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) homodimeric transcription factor, consisting of two subunits that bind to a specific DNA sequence, CCCNNGGG, through a zinc-coordination motif in its DNA recognition domain. The ability of EBF to interact with these promoter elements not only underscores EBF′s importance in B cell maturation but also highlights EBF′s potential role in influencing the expression of neuron-specific genes, particularly those related to olfactory functions, due to the presence of EBF binding sites in their promoters. anti-EBF antibody (D-8) is therefore an invaluable tool for researchers studying B cell development and its implications in immunological responses.
