DREAM Antibody (A-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects DREAM protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-DREAM antibody (A-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. DREAM protein, known as DRE-antagonist modulator, functions as a calcium-regulated transcriptional repressor that specifically binds to downstream regulatory elements (DRE), which are crucial for silencing basal transcription. This regulatory sequence is located in the promoter region of the gene encoding human prodynorphin, an opioid peptide that plays a significant role in memory acquisition and pain modulation. DREAM′s ability to form functional homotetramers is essential for DRE interaction, and this binding is highly sensitive to calcium levels; an increase in calcium concentration inhibits DREAM′s binding capacity, thereby blocking repressive activity. DREAM transcripts are predominantly found in the brain, thymus, and thyroid gland, where DREAM is expressed as a nuclear protein. DREAM has been shown to inhibit the transcription of other genes containing DRE-like motifs, including the gene for the AP-1 transcription factor c-Fos, indicating a broader influence on various cellular genes and pathways.
