Cortistatin Antibody (A-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cortistatin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-cortistatin antibody (A-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Cortistatin, a 155 amino acid neuropeptide encoded by the human CORT gene, plays a crucial role in regulating neuronal activity and sleep patterns. Cortistatin is primarily located in the central nervous system, where cortistatin is involved in modulating slow-wave sleep and reducing locomotor activity. This localization highlights cortistatin′s potential as a therapeutic target for sleep disorders and other neurological conditions. Cortistatin′s ability to bind to all known somatostatin receptors allows cortistatin to share many functional properties with somatostatin, yet cortistatin also exhibits unique effects, such as inducing slow-wave sleep through antagonism of acetylcholine′s excitatory effects on the cortex. This multifaceted role underscores cortistatin′s importance in neurophysiological processes and relevance in research and clinical applications.

Gracias!

Asked by: AlejandroCM
Thank you for your question. We currently only offer Cortistatin antibodies specific against human protein. They can be found under this link https://www.scbt.com/browse/cortistatin-antibodies. Somatostatin antibodies are available here: https://www.scbt.com/browse/somatostatin-antibodies. Somatostatin Antibody (H-11): sc-74556 and Somatostatin Antibody (YC7): sc-47706 are also recommended for use in IF and IHC(P) stainings of rat cell and tissue samples.

What blocking solution should I use with cortistatin (A-7): sc-393108 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
