CD8-α Antibody (KT15) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that specifically detects the CD8-α chain of mouse origin by immunofluorescence (IF) and flow cytometry (FCM). Raised against T cell clone C6 of mouse origin, anti-CD8-α antibody (KT15) targets CD8-α, also known as CD8A or T8, a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of cytotoxic T lymphocytes and natural killer cells. CD8-α forms either homodimers (CD8αα) or heterodimers with CD8-β (CD8αβ) and plays a crucial role in the immune response by interacting with major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules presented by antigen-presenting cells (APCs). This interaction enhances the recognition of antigenic peptides by the T cell receptor (TCR) complex, which includes CD3 proteins, and facilitates signal transduction necessary for T cell activation. CD8-α associates with the Src family tyrosine kinase Lck through its cytoplasmic tail, which is essential for downstream signaling pathways leading to T cell proliferation and cytokine production. Understanding the interactions between CD8-α and its associated proteins is important for research into immune responses, autoimmune diseases, and immunotherapies, making CD8-α monoclonal antibody (KT15) a valuable tool for studying these interactions in mouse models.
