7-Hydroxyaristolochic acid A is an aristolochic acid. These compounds are the active ingredients, responsible for the hepatoxicity and renal toxicity, found in Aristolochic fangchi. They form DNA adducts in renal tissue and are associated with urothelial carcinoma formation.
