2,5-Dimethyl-2,4-hexadiene is a nucleophilic alkene that has been studied in the photodechlorination of 9.10-dichloroanthracene, aromatic and aliphatic thiol additions, as a singlet oxygen acceptor in various solvents, and in its asymmetric cyclopropanation with tert-butyl diazoacetate in the presence of the new copper-bisoxazoline complex.
