Zinterol is a potent and selective beta2-AR (beta2-adrenoceptor) agonist (pKB values are 8.3 and < 5.7 for beta 2 and beta1 receptors respectively, as measured in human artery). When beta-2 adrenergic receptors are activated, they initiate a series of biochemical reactions that induce the intended physiological outcomes. Zinterol, widely employed as a growth promoter in the livestock industry, acts as a bronchodilator and exhibits a positive inotropic effect.
