YM 750 is reported to act as a SOAT (acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase, ACAT) inhibitor. ACAT catalyzes the formation of cholesteryl esters from cholesterol and long-chain fatty-acyl-coenzyme A. Inhibition of ACAT can lead to various effects, including reduced cholesterol ester formation, decreased foam cell formation, altered cellular lipid homeostasis, modulation of lipoprotein profiles, and the inhibition of the progression of atherosclerotic plaques. YM 750 exhibits hypocholesterolaemic and antiatherosclerotic activity.
