Thyroxine Antibody (1H1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Thyroxine protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Thyroxine antibody (1H1) is available as the non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. Thyroxine, also known as T4, is a crucial tyrosine-based hormone synthesized by the thyroid glands, playing a vital role in regulating metabolism and energy levels in the body. T4 circulates primarily bound to carrier proteins, with only a small fraction existing in its free form. Thyroxine increases the basal metabolic rate, enhances protein synthesis, and heightens the body′s sensitivity to catecholamines, such as adrenaline. T4 is essential for proper fetal development; insufficient levels during pregnancy can lead to severe consequences, including irreversible brain damage in the fetus. The conversion of free T4 to Triiodothyronine (T3) in peripheral tissues further underscores Thyroxine′s significance in maintaining metabolic homeostasis. In cases of hypothyroidism, where the thyroid gland is underactive, T4 supplementation is a common therapeutic approach, often combined with T3 to restore normal physiological function.
