SEE ALSO...

STAU2 Antibody (S-35) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects STAU2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-STAU2 antibody (S-35) is available as a non-conjugated format. STAU2, also known as staufen, RNA binding protein, homolog 2, or 39K2/39K3, plays a crucial role in the transport and localization of mRNA within neurons, which is vital for proper neuronal function and development. STAU2 is predominantly expressed in brain tissue and is involved in the microtubule-dependent delivery of neuronal RNA to dendrites, thereby influencing synaptic plasticity and the formation of dendritic spines. STAU2 belongs to the double-stranded RNA-binding protein family and shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm, where STAU2 associates with ribonucleoprotein particles that facilitate mRNA transport. Notably, interference with STAU2 expression in mature neurons results in a significant reduction in dendritic spines, underscoring STAU2′s essential role in maintaining synaptic structure and function. STAU2 exists in five different isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in neuronal development and plasticity.
