SMI-4a is a selective inhibitor of the protein kinases, Pim-1 and Pim-2. Induces apoptosis by way of the mitochondrial pathway. Induces G1 phase cell cycle arrest. Inhibits rapamycin C1 (mTORC1) pathway. Inhibits phosphorylation of PRAS40 and mTOR activity. Downregulates c-myc. Regarding the chemistry of SMI-4a, it is a proprietary polyisobutylene (PIB) copolymer developed by Total Corbion PLA. This copolymer offers enhanced adhesion and flexibility in applications like adhesives, sealants, coatings, and elastomers. Composed of polyisobutylene and a cross-linking agent, such as a diisocyanate or polyamine, the copolymer forms a three-dimensional network structure, resulting in improved adhesion and flexibility. It also incorporates additives like plasticizers, antioxidants, and UV stabilizers for further performance enhancements.
