QUICK LINKS

Silver(I) behenate, also known as silver behenic acid, is a fatty acid derived from behenic acid, a naturally occurring saturated fatty acid found in vegetable oils, beeswax, and other natural products. Silver(I) behenate is used in the synthesis of other compounds, as a surfactant, and as a lubricant in various industrial processes. In addition, it is useful in studies exploring cell membrane structure, membrane permeability, the effects of lipids on protein structure and function, and the interactions between proteins and cell membranes. Silver(I) behenate also has antimicrobial properties through inhibiting the growth of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms.
