(S)-2-Piperidineethanol hydrochloride is a chiral amine used in a variety of scientific research applications. For example, it is employed in metabolism studies, enzyme inhibition studies, molecular docking studies, and in the synthesis of various other compounds. It inhibits the activity of the enzyme cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6), which is involved in the metabolism of many compounds, as well as the enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO), which is involved in the metabolism of neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine.
