rac-Abacavir Sulfate is a racemic mixture of ent-Abacavir (sc-479383) and Abacavir Sulfate (sc-207238) with similar antiviral properties. Abacavir [also called Ziagen (sc-338739)] is a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). NRTIs work by blocking HIV reverse transcriptase (HIV-1 RT), an HIV enzyme.
