Quinacrine Dihydrochloride Dihydrate (QDHD) is a PLA2 (phophoslipase A2) inhibitor. It shows synergistic inhibition of prostate cancer cells when used in combination with paclitaxel or lovastatin. It is also an inhibitor of AChR, cPLA2, MAO-A and MAO-B. Quinacrine Dihydrochloride Dihydrate acts as a non-selective agonist at the muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, causing the release of intracellular second messengers, such as cyclic AMP and calcium ions. Exhibiting a diverse range of biochemical and physiological impacts, Quinacrine Dihydrochloride Dihydrate causes the activation of adenylate cyclase, the inhibition of phosphodiesterase, the stimulation of phospholipase C, the promotion of intracellular calcium release, and the hindrance of Na+/K+ ATPase. Additionally, it manifests various other effects, such as enhancing the release of neurotransmitters, impeding the release of cytokines, and stimulating the release of nitric oxide. These activities give Quinacrine Dihydrochloride Dihydrate its antimalarial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, anti-convulsant, anti-parasitic, and anti-bacterial properties.
