PTBP-2 Antibody (YY-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PTBP-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PTBP-2, also known as polypyrimidine tract binding protein 2 or neural polypyrimidine tract-binding protein (nPTB), is a crucial RNA-binding protein predominantly expressed in the brain, with additional presence in heart and skeletal muscle tissues. PTBP-2 is primarily localized in the nucleus, where PTBP-2 plays a vital role in regulating exon splicing and stabilizing mRNAs in the cytoplasm, thereby influencing gene expression and cellular function. PTBP-2 contains four RNA recognition motif (RRM) domains, which are essential for interaction with RNA molecules, and exists in six isoforms due to alternative splicing. Notably, isoforms 1 and 2 are specific to neuronal tissues, while isoforms 3 through 6 are found in non-neuronal tissues, suggesting that diverse isoforms may modulate RNA-binding properties of PTBP-2, allowing for tissue-specific regulation of gene expression. PTBP-2′s ability to interact with various RNA targets underscores PTBP-2′s importance in post-transcriptional regulation, making anti-PTBP-2 antibody (YY-12) an invaluable tool for scientists studying the intricate roles of RNA-binding proteins in cellular processes.
