(±)-3-Hydroxyoctanoic acid, also known as 3-hydroxyoctanoic acid, is an organic acid with a hydroxy group (-OH) and a carboxylic acid group (-COOH) attached to an eight-carbon chain. The compound is chiral and exists as a racemic mixture of two enantiomers, the (R)- and (S)-forms.
