Metaxin 1 Antibody (G-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Metaxin 1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Metaxin 1 (G-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Metaxin 1, also referred to as Mtx or Gcap6, is a 317 amino acid protein that belongs to the Metaxin family and is primarily localized to the outer membrane of mitochondria, where Metaxin 1 plays a crucial role in protein transport into the mitochondrion. This function is vital for maintaining mitochondrial integrity and energy production, which are essential for cellular metabolism and overall cell health. Additionally, Metaxin 1 is critical for embryonic development, highlighting Metaxin 1′s importance in early life stages. Metaxin 1 has been shown to interact with other members of the Metaxin family, such as Metaxin 2, further emphasizing Metaxin 1′s role in mitochondrial function. While Metaxin 1 is expressed throughout various tissues, Metaxin 1 is found at the highest levels in the kidney. The gene encoding Metaxin 1 is located on human chromosome 1, the largest chromosome in the human genome, which spans approximately 260 million base pairs and constitutes about 8% of the entire genome.
