K-cadherin Antibody (5F95) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects K-cadherin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. K-cadherin, a member of the cadherin family, plays a crucial role in mediating cell-cell adhesion, which is essential for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating morphogenetic processes. Anti-K-cadherin antibody (5F95) recognizes proteins primarily located at the cell membrane, where K-cadherin forms adherens junctions that connect adjacent cells, thereby contributing to the structural stability of tissues. Proper localization of K-cadherin is vital, as disruptions in expression or function can lead to various pathological conditions, including cancer metastasis and developmental disorders. K-cadherin′s extracellular domain is characterized by a series of five homologous repeats, which are critical for adhesive properties, while its intracellular domain interacts with cytoplasmic proteins like β-catenin, linking K-cadherin to the actin cytoskeleton and influencing cellular signaling pathways. K-cadherin monoclonal antibody (5F95) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying the dynamics of cell adhesion and the implications of cadherin function in health and disease.
