Guanylin (rat, mouse) is an endogenous intestinal guanylyl cyclase activator. Guanylin (rat, mouse) is a peptide hormone that activates guanyl cyclase C primarily in intenstinal epithelial cells, but also in neurons. Guanylin (rat, mouse) can increase intracellular levels of cGMP. In the kidney, Guanylin (rat, mouse) can induce natriuresis and diuresis. Guanylin (rat, mouse) can inhibit cell proliferation in colonic cells, extending to cell cycle arrest.
