D-Propargylglycine (D-PPG) is an organosulfur compound useful for proteomics research. It is a synthetic molecule that can be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis, a substrate for enzyme studies, a ligand in coordination chemistry, and a pharmacological agent for studying biochemical and physiological processes. This compound acts as an inhibitor of the enzyme transglutaminase, which is involved in the formation of cross-links between proteins. In addition, D-Propargylglycine inhibits the activity of several other enzymes, including cyclooxygenase, lipoxygenase, and phospholipase A2, which are involved in the formation of inflammatory mediators and the regulation of cell signaling pathways. It has also been shown to modulate the activity of various transcription factors and to affect the expression of genes involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. D-Propargylglycine has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-apoptotic effects.
