CRMP-5 Antibody (CR-1) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CRMP-5 protein of mouse, rat, human, and bovine origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). CRMP-5 (CR-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Collapsin response mediator proteins (CRMPs) play a crucial role in neuronal signaling, particularly in response to the axon guidance molecule Semaphorin 3A (SEMA3A), which is vital for proper neuronal development and connectivity. CRMP-5 is expressed in the filopodia of growth cones and in adult central and peripheral neurons, including synapses, highlighting CRMP-5′s importance in maintaining neuronal plasticity and differentiation. Notably, CRMPs expression is significantly downregulated in the adult brain, yet CRMPs persist in regions that require ongoing plasticity, making CRMPs essential for adaptive responses in the nervous system. Additionally, CRMP-5 has been implicated in paraneoplastic syndromes, as CRMP-5 autoantibody (CRMP-5-IgG) is associated with small-cell lung carcinoma and thymoma, underscoring CRMP-5′s relevance in both normal physiology and disease states.

Do you have a polyclonal antibody to block human CR-1 altogether from C3b binding? Alternative I would need sCR-1 to do this in solution.

Asked by: LeeF
Thank you for your question. We do not currently offer any polyclonal antibodies with functional blocking activity.

What blocking solution should I use with CRMP-5 (CR-1): sc-58515 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: jerojero
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
