    SEE ALSO...

Corin Antibody (5B6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Corin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Corin antibody (5B6) is available as the non-conjugated form. Corin, also known as atrial natriuretic peptide-converting enzyme, is a crucial serine protease that plays a significant role in cardiovascular homeostasis by converting pro-atrial natriuretic peptide (Pro-ANP) into its active form, ANP. This conversion is vital as ANP is involved in regulating blood pressure and fluid balance, thus influencing conditions such as hypertension and heart failure. Corin is primarily localized to the membrane as a single-pass type II membrane protein, where Corin interacts with atrial and brain natriuretic peptides (ANP and BNP) to facilitate their biological functions. The extracellular domain of Corin is structurally complex, containing two frizzled-like cysteine-rich domains, eight low-density lipoprotein receptor repeats, a macrophage scavenger receptor-like domain, and a trypsin-like protease domain at the C-terminus, which are essential for substrate recognition and enzymatic activity. Notably, the frizzled 1 domain and the first four LDLR repeats are critical for the recognition of Pro-ANP, allowing Corin to cleave between arginine 123 and serine 124, thereby activating ANP. Corin is predominantly expressed in cardiomyocytes, and studies have shown that mice lacking Corin develop hypertension and cardiac hypertrophy, underscoring its importance in cardiovascular health.
