Claudin-3 Antibody (1E7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects claudin-3 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-claudin-3 antibody (1E7) is available as a non-conjugated format. Claudin-3 plays a crucial role in maintaining tight junction integrity, which is essential for regulating paracellular transport and maintaining cellular polarity. Tight junctions are critical in various tissues, controlling ion and small molecule movement between cells, thereby influencing barrier function and tissue homeostasis. Claudin-3 is predominantly expressed in epithelial and endothelial cells, with tightly regulated expression in different tissues vital for specific physiological functions. In the pancreas, claudin-3 is localized at ductal and acinar cell junctions, contributing to selective epithelial barrier permeability. Claudin-3 interacts with Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin (CPE) through its second extracellular loop, highlighting roles in both normal physiology and pathophysiological conditions. The gene encoding human claudin-3 is located on chromosome 7q11.23, and understanding claudin-3 function and interactions remains essential for elucidating roles in health and disease.
