Citrate Concentrated Solution is 1 M sodium citrate in H2O. As a conjugate base of a weak acid, sodium citrate can perform as a biological buffering agent because it resists changes in pH. May be used to prepare sodium citrate buffer for antigen retrieval of tissue samples. The citrate solution is designed to break protein cross-links; thus, unmasking antigens and epitopes in formalin-fixed and paraffin embedded tissue sections, resulting in enhancing staining intensity of antibodies. Citrate has anticoagulant activity; as a calcium chelator, it forms complexes that disrupt the tendency of blood to clot. Additional forms available: Citric Acid Monohydrate (sc-203327) Citric Acid, Anhydrous (sc-211113) Sodium Citrate, Dihydrate (sc-203383) Citric Acid Trisodium Salt (sc-214745) Sodium citrate monobasic (sc-215869) Sodium citrate tribasic hydrate (sc-236898)

Is it already pH adjusted at 6.0?
Asked by: Harsha
Thank you for your question. The pH of Citrate Concentrated Solution (CAS 68-04-2) sc-294091 is not adjusted. The product is supplied as a 1M aquaeous solution. To use it for antigen retrieval we recommend preparing a solution of 10 mM sodium citrate buffer and adjust it to pH 6.
