Datasheets
  • Bu-1b Antibody (5-11G2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 provided at 100 µg/ml
  • raised against bursal cells from 2- to 5-week-old CHA (Bu1b) strain avians
  • recommended for detection of Bu-1b of avian origin by IP, IF and FCM; non cross-reactive with cells from CHA and H.B15Ab strains
  • available conjugated to phycoerythrin for IF, IHC(P) and FCM
  • At present, we have not yet completed the identification of the preferred secondary detection reagent(s) for Bu-1b Antibody (5-11G2). This work is in progress.

Bu-1b Antibody (5-11G2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Bu-1b in avian species through applications such as immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Bu-1b is a genetically polymorphic cell surface antigen that plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell death, particularly during the development of B lymphocytes. Bu-1b functions as a type I transmembrane glycoprotein, which is essential for maintaining the balance between cell survival and apoptosis in the immune system. Bu-1b expression on B cells and a subset of macrophages indicates involvement in immune responses, as Bu-1b helps to eliminate nonfunctional or self-reactive lymphocytes, thereby preventing autoimmune reactions. Bu-1b expression in embryonic spleen and bone marrow cells marks these tissues as precursors for B cell development. Bu-1b′s ability to induce a rapid form of cell death similar to apoptosis underscores its importance in ensuring that only functional lymphocytes mature and enter the immune repertoire. The two allelic forms of the Bu-1 gene, Bu-1a and Bu-1b, represent the recessive and dominant products, respectively, further highlighting the genetic diversity and functional implications of this antigen in avian immunology.
