Bu-1a/b Antibody (AV20) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Bu-1a/b protein of avian origin by immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Bu-1a/b (AV20) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), providing flexibility for different experimental needs. Bu-1 protein plays a crucial role in the regulation of cell death, which is vital for maintaining a functional immune system. During the development of T and B lymphocytes, Bu-1 protein is essential to eliminate nonfunctional or self-reactive cells to prevent autoimmune responses. Bu-1 antigens are genetically polymorphic type I transmembrane glycoproteins expressed on B cells and a subset of macrophages, indicating their importance in cell survival and adhesion during B cell maturation. Bu-1 presence in embryonic spleen and bone marrow cells marks these tissues as precursors for B cells, highlighting Bu-1 significance in early immune development. Bu-1 protein can trigger a rapid form of cell death akin to apoptosis, which is critical for the proper selection of functional lymphocytes. Bu-1a and Bu-1b variants represent the recessive and dominant allelic products of the Bu-1 gene, respectively, underscoring the genetic diversity within avian species.
