    SEE ALSO...

BoNT/E Antibody (BE3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Botulinum neurotoxin type E (BoNT/E) of Clostridium botulinum by western blotting (WB). BoNT/E is a potent neurotoxin that plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of botulism, a serious paralytic illness. Anti-BoNT/E antibody (BE3) recognizes synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25), a key component of the synaptic vesicle fusion machinery essential for acetylcholine release. BoNT/E cleaves SNAP-25, causing significant disruption of neurotransmission and leading to flaccid paralysis. This mechanism not only halts acetylcholine release but also inhibits glutamate release, affecting neuronal excitability and synaptic communication. BoNT/E has shown promise in mitigating kainic acid-induced seizures, highlighting potential therapeutic implications in neuroprotection and seizure management. Anti-BoNT/E antibody (BE3) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying molecular mechanisms of botulism and neurotoxic effects of Clostridium botulinum, providing insights into both basic neuroscience and potential clinical applications.
